Speech
Adults may experience difficulty with the clarity of their speech for a variety of reasons including stroke, head injury, or other neurological diseases. Speech Language Pathologists are skilled in facilitating rehabilitation and compensation for difficulties with speech, sometimes this means exploring alternative means of communication with the use of technology. At Catalyst we strive to provide these services in a creative and personally relevant way.
Language
Language skills can also be impacted by a variety of neurological events, including but not limited to stroke, head injury, or dementia. You may notice that it is difficult to get words out or that your family members' stories are difficult to follow. A person's ability to understand language may also be impacted. Speech-Language Pathologists provide specific interventions and cues to slowly re-build communication abilities.
Cognition
Cognition refers to a complex set of skills including memory, problem solving, safety awareness, and organization. Difficulties with cognition can result from diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, or Dementia, among others. Speech Language Pathologists can train individuals to use compensatory strategies in order to maintain independence as long as possible. If a person can no longer learn new strategies, the SLP will work with family and caregivers on ways to best support their loved one while maintaining dignity.
Voice
People of all ages can experience difficulties with their voice for reasons ranging from overuse to disease such as Parkinson's. Our adult specialist is a certified provider of LSVT LOUD--a program for people with a soft voice as a result of Parkinson's disease.
Swallow
Have you noticed that you or a loved one are having a hard time eating or drinking without coughing and choking? You likely do not have to "just live with it". There are a variety of ways Speech Language Pathologists can help make eating safer and more comfortable.

Occupational Therapy
**Program is currently on hold**
A child’s occupation is learning to be independent in activities of daily living. For infants and children this involves learning to use body and mind for play, exploring their environment, participating in self-help activities such as feeding, toileting and dressing, and the ability to rest and sleep. Occupational therapists consider the whole child as we support skill building and independence, sensory wellness and self-regulation, family/social relationships and a child’s life environment both at home and in community.
We offer a safe space to evaluate your voice and how that relates to your gender presentation. Our goal is to help you find the voice that is most authentically you and affirming to who you truly are.
- Raise or lower your pitch
- Alter your resonance, or the quality of the sound of your voice
- Change your intonation, or the rhythm of your speech
- Work on volume, or how loud you speak
- Change the language you use to help you utilize your most authentic voice
- Teach you to notice body language and mannerisms, evaluate which ones serve you, and adjust according to what feels most affirming to you
At Catalyst, we embrace a developmental philosophy and approach to feeding therapy, centered on the belief that feeding is a relationship based upon trust. We are deeply committed to supporting children and families to gain confidence in eating skills, nutritional wellness and mealtime enjoyment. Our therapists provide feeding evaluation, family support and evidence-based feeding therapy that is collaborative in nature. We work together with a child’s medical team, and partner with the family to create an individualized treatment plan and home program that best meets the needs, strengths and challenges of every child and family that we serve. Our occupational therapy program provides feeding therapy to children birth through adolescence, with special emphasis in feeding difficulties related to autism, infant feeding/breastfeeding and lactation, sensory integration dysfunction and childhood anxiety.
